8 June 2007

Brussels has been chosen for the kick-off presentations for two main reasons, firstly due to the fact that according to the Second National Development Plan the sector could benefit from EU-funds and secondly in order to promote it towards representatives of a country which is actively investing in Hungary. The geographical location of the country, our numerous thermal spas, our medical staff’s high expertise dooms Hungary to become a thermal tourism center in Europe. As it was highlighted by several speakers, a well targeted, carefully planned investment should flow into the sector to develop the most crucial fields: to master skills, provide vocational training and improve infrastructure. To this end, the roadshow’s kickoff event was held in Brussels with high representatives on board from the related national organizations and offices. Participants were welcomed and the morning panel was opened by Mr Ferenc ROBAK, Hungarian Ambassador. In his presentation Mr Istvan UJHELYI, Secretary of State (Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development) focused on the trends and perspectives of investment in thermal tourism.
